TheNews ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We store this to identify your account.
Usage data
We record interactions such as articles you save (bookmark) to provide personalized features. We do not sell this data to third parties.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the service (e.g. persisting your bookmarks)
- To authenticate you securely via Google OAuth
- To improve the service based on aggregate usage patterns
- To communicate with you if you contact us directly
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. We use Row-Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure your data is only accessible to you. Sessions are managed via secure HTTP-only cookies.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google OAuth — for authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase — for database and authentication infrastructure. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare — for hosting and edge delivery. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
6. Cookies
We use a single session cookie to maintain your authenticated state. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt out by simply not creating an account (all core features work without login)

8. Data Retention
We retain your account and interaction data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
TheNews is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
